Corner of Vesper 1956
Then....

Bundled up against the winter winds, we find a young Dave MacDonald standing at the corner of Vesper Street and Bayview Avenue. The MacDonalds actually lived to the left next door to this little red log cabin. The log cabin was later torn down and replaced by what many refer to now as the "Lighthouse" when giving directions. Dramatic as that change is, look to the right over Dave's shoulder and notice the two story cottage which stood on the beach sea wall at the time. That cottage burned down and a smaller single story blue cottage sits prominently on that spot now. If you look at the current photo below or stand at this spot however you will recognize the garage structure which remains today. Dave, by the way, admits to still having that coat in his closet today! This is another great example of why we want you to dig thru those old albums not to see what you might have looked like then but to see what might be in the background which would be of historical interest to us all.
